É longo o caminho desde a intenção que está na nossa cabeça até ao bico do lápis que registará no papel o que queremos representar. A jornada é atribulada por um conjunto de elementos que irão interferir na ação e, frequentemente, culmina numa luta contra a natureza dos materiais que optamos por trabalhar. Como tal, o resultado final dos nossos trabalhos contém uma boa dose de imprevisibilidade. Mas poderão estes imprevistos, mais do que ser meros acidentes de percurso, conferir carácter ao nosso trabalho?
Com esta oficina testaremos diferentes estratégias de trabalho menos convencionais, tendo como objetivo encontrar um ponto de equilíbrio entre a intenção e o acidente. Para tal recorreremos a diferentes técnicas, como monotipias, decalques, colagens, diversos tipos de suporte, utensílios não convencionais, entre outros, que, aliados a diferentes abordagens gestuais, possibilitarão a fuga ou sabotagem do total domínio da intencionalidade, potenciando o aleatório e criando terrenos gráficos e plásticos deliberadamente pantanosos dos quais os participantes terão de encontrar estratégias de saída.

Strategies of the unpredictable
It's a long way from the intention that is in our mind to the tip of the pencil that will record on paper what we intend to represent. The journey is troubled by a set of elements that will interfere with the action and often culminates in a struggle against the nature of the materials we choose to work with. As such, the end result of our work contains a good deal of unpredictability. But could these unforeseen events, more than just being mere accidents along the way, add character to our work? With this workshop, we will test different less conventional work strategies, with the aim of finding a balance between intention and accident. To do so, we will resort to different techniques, such as mono-types, decals, collages, diverse types of support, unconventional utensils, among others, which, combined with different gestural approaches, will allow the escape or sabotage of the total domain of intentionality, enhancing the randomness and creating deliberately swampy graphic and plastic terrains from which the participants will have to find exit strategies.
Tendo por base um conjunto de poemas selecionados de poetas portuguesas, a oficina terá como base, a criação de ilustrações, integrando processos e práticas criativas e narrativas, para a formulação de hipóteses experimentais e intertextuais.
Serão igualmente fornecidas ferramentas no domínio da relação entre texto e imagem, para a sistematização dos mecanismos de transcriação poética, bem como, metodologias para a construção de uma gramática própria, com recursos expressivos, para o alargamento dos meios e dos recursos dentro do campo da ilustração de poesia.

Poetry illustration workshop of portuguese poetesses
Based on a collection of selected poems by Portuguese poetesses, the workshop will be based on the creation of illustrations, integrating creative and narrative processes and practices, for the formulation of experimental and intertextual hypotheses. Tools will also be provided in the field of the relationship between text and image, for the systematization of poetic transcreation mechanisms, as well as methodologies for the construction of a grammar of its own, with expressive resources, for the expansion of means and resources within the field of poetry illustration.
A relação entre as letras e o corpo humano é um tema recorrente na história da arte e do design. As letras têm uma anatomia própria e uma função estabelecida, mas podem ser mais do que formas abstractas com que fazemos palavras. Podem conter objetos, arquiteturas, paisagens ou figuras, combinando linguagens e alargando as possibilidades ao nível das formas e significados. Partindo de uma breve contextualização histórica e da apresentação de vários exemplos, cada participante será desafiado a criar um alfabeto ilustrado original, valorizando a legibilidade, a criatividade e a expressão pessoal.

Body of letters
The relationship between letters and the human body is a recurring theme in the history of art and design. Letters have their own anatomy and an established function, but they can be more than the abstract ways we make words with. They can contain objects, architectures, landscapes or figures, combining languages and expanding possibilities in terms of forms and meanings. Starting from a brief historical context and the presentation of several examples, each participant will be challenged to create an original illustrated alphabet, valuing readability, creativity and personal expression.
A banda-desenhada é uma prática que na sua essência, funde a narrativa escrita com a visual. Nesta oficina, pretende-se explorar diferentes tipos de criação de banda-desenhada com a partilha de uma série de técnicas de escrita e de desenho usadas por Rudolfo. No final será criado um fanzine coletivo com as pranchas criadas pelos participantes.

Secret comics techniques
Comics is a practice that, in its bare essence, merges the written narrative with the visual one. In this workshop, we intend to explore different types of comic book creation by sharing a series of writing and drawing techniques used by Rudolfo. In the end, a collective fanzine will be produced with the boards created by the participants.
