Words bring with them experiences and support an imagery possibility that enables the expansion of perception. Literary creation in its exercise of writing transports us to unique sensibilities. What we are in what we read and what reading provides us is registered in our existence. Will words be able to serve our desire of expression?

When the image “takes their pulse” and provides them with amplitude, we see in the relationship between the word and the image a complementarity for creative fruition. Júlio Resende showed us, in a very special way, how artistic creation was related and coexisted with the texts that he revealed through his illustrations. The sensibility of illustrating is the intelligence of the emotion to read a text and provide it with a coexistence through the image. The record as the fulcrum of wanting to show the essence of the word that is reproduced in the premise of the form.

These illustrations by Júlio Resende demonstrate his attentive and fruitful relationship with the text, with what the word allows in connection with the image. His sensitivity as a painter, expressed in his wisdom and attentive eye, bestowed the illustration an exquisite elaboration.
